Co-Sponsership Guidelines
Programs are planned by season:
- January through March
- April/May
- June through August
- September/October
- November/December
All programs planned, promoted or sponsored by the
library are free of charge to patrons.
Some programs may require registration. This is done in order to not
exceed the capacity of the program room, to
allow the presenter and library staff to prepare for the event, and to
assess interest in additional sessions. If registration
is required, it will be done on a first-come, first-served basis. Names or
phone numbers of those registered will not be
published, copied or given to parties other than MCPL personnel.
If a program is filled, cancelled or rescheduled, the Adult Services
designated program coordinator will make every
effort to contact those interested and include them onwaiting lists
or expand the program to accommodate
demand. If a program needs to be cancelled or rescheduled, the coordinator
will make every attempt to contact patrons
directly and/or through the media.
The program coordinator will make available to the co-sponsor
one master copy of any library-created material
(flyer, etc.). MCPL will contact all local media and publicize the event
through the library's brochures and web site.
Additional publicity is encouraged and will be determined by the library
and co-sponsor. The program coordinator
must determine whether the publicity is appropriate for the library. Both
the co-sponsor and the program coordinator
must approve the text for all publicity.
The co-sponsor should designate one contact person for the event. If
funding for the program comes from a grant-
writing project, MCPL must have co-authorship and may require more than
nine weeks of planning time.
The program coordinator and co-sponsor must be present at the program and
remain for the entire event. Both are
responsible for program set-up and clean-up.
No admission may be charged. No attempt may be made to obtain the names,
addresses or telephone numbers
of persons attending. Hard sell tactics are not permitted. Books and
other media may be sold at library-
sponsored events with the library's prior permission.
Adult programs at MCPL are funded in part by the
Monroe County Public
Library Foundation.
Proposals will be approved or disapproved on the basis of availability of
staff and equipment, as well as library policy
and ASPC goals, objectives and guidelines.
The goals of Adult Services programming will be consistent with the Monroe
County
Public Library's long-range plans, adopted in January 1992:

To provide a coordinated program of informational, cultural and
recreational services in
cooperation with other units of government, community and recreational
agencies.

through an ongoing program of public information.
