computer basics for the beginner

Are you new to the wonderful world of home computing? This 3-part class will take a systematic look at the basics of computer use and will focus on computers running Windows XP, though the basic concepts are applicable to Windows Vista as well as older Windows operating systems.

Attendees are required to sign up for the entire three-part course. The three classes take place on the same day of the week over a three-week period.

Class One:

The basic components of a computer
Familiarizing yourself with Windows
Using the keyboard and mouse
Opening, minimizing, maximizing, and closing programs

Class Two:

Copying and pasting information
Creating and using folders
Saving files to your computer or an external device

Class Three:

Computer security
Installing software
Customizing your display
And more

Each class is one hour.
Space is limited to 10 participants.
All classes are held in Program Room 2C.
