Checkout Rules for Children's
Materials
Children of all ages are permitted to check out library materials. Apply for a library card at the second floor Checkout Desk, or
online.
Children's materials have the same checkout limits as other materials in the library :
DVDS = 7 for 7 days
Music CDs = 21 for 21 Days
Magazines = No Limit for 7 Days
Everything else (including Books, Audiobooks, CD-ROMs and Toys) = No Limit for 21 Days
To help us best share our supply of books with the largest number of people,
we ask that you please try not to take every book on a single
subject, for example, "Ancient Egypt."
(Teachers: please consider
Requesting a Closed Reserve Collection when you assign your class a comprehensive research topic so that all students may have access to materials in the library.)
All items may be renewed 2 times for the same length of time as the original checkout period, with the exception of items with holds.
If you want an item which is currently checked out, please ask a staff
member at the "Ask Questions Here" desk to put a hold on it for
you, or use our
Online Catalog to
request an item.
Toys in bags are for home use only. Please do not remove toys from bags to use in the library. Keeping the toys in bags until they are checked out helps ensure the pieces remain together and the toy is ready for the next person to use at home.
Please note:
-
Toys are only cleaned periodically by library staff. Please check condition of toy and clean before and after your child's use.
- Please bring toys and the oversized paperback Big Books into the library and return at a checkout desk. These items are too big to fit into the book drop.
For more information on borrowing materials from the library, please see MCPL's
Checkout Information page.
