You have heard people talk about the Internet, but do you know what the Internet is? Did you know...
- The Internet is not just one computer, but many computers connected together.
- You can't see the Internet, but you can see the World Wide Web pages that
are part of the Internet. You are looking at a World Wide Web page right
now.
- There is a lot of great information on the Internet! Some very current
information is only on the Internet because it's faster to put up a Web
page than it is to print a book. But not everything is on the Internet.
Sometimes the information you need is only in a book or newspaper or magazine,
and not on the Internet. And sometimes the information you need is in both
print and on the Internet.
- The librarians at the Monroe County Public Library can teach you about
the Internet and the World Wide Web, help you search for information that
is on the Internet, and help you find books and other resources for learning more about the Internet.
