Description Monroe Smart Start: Birth-to-Five Coalition works to ensure that all children in Monroe County are ready for school and ready for life! Our coalition brings together the public and private sectors to bring resources and attention to this critical time in a child's development. We focus on the first five years because that's when 85% of brain development occurs, but only 5% of education funds are invested.

The Coalition is working towards increasing the number of children in Monroe County who enter kindergarten with the skills and attributes needed to be successful.

Description

On January 21, 2010, with its ruling in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, the Supreme Court ruled that corporations are persons, entitled by the U.S. Constitution to buy elections and run our government. Human beings are people; corporations are legal fictions.

We, the People of the United States of America, reject the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in Citizens United and other related cases, and move to amend our Constitution to firmly establish that money is not speech, and that human beings, not corporations, are persons entitled to constitutional rights.

New Hope Family Shelter’s mission is to provide temporary shelter for homeless families in Bloomington and Monroe County and, in collaboration with other agencies, to help those families regain housing by addressing the problems that led to homelessness.
