Bloomington Area Arts Council supports public participation in the arts by developing, strengthening, and promoting the cultural resources of Bloomington and Brown, Greene, Lawrence, Monroe, Morgan and Owen Counties. The BAAC fulfills its mission by directly supporting artists and arts organizations in the five-county region and by managing the John Waldron Arts Center.

City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department provides essential services, facilities and programs necessary for the positive development and well-being of the community through the provision of parks, greenways, trails and recreational facilities while working in cooperation with other service providers in the community in order to maximize all available resources.

The Indiana University Libraries comprise one of the leading academic research library systems in North America. On the Bloomington campus, the Herman B Wells Library, with its double towers of Indiana limestone, is the visual center of the multi-library system. The libraries' research collections include more than 6.6 million books in over 900 languages. Users can access more than 400 databases, 43,000 e-journals, and 224,000 e-books, as well as locally developed digital content. All IU libraries are open to residents of the state as well as to IU faculty and students.
