Friends!  It's time to show your loyalty to one of the most democratic institutions in this great country of ours—THE PUBLIC LIBRARY. Join The Friends of the Library in the gala 4th of July Parade in Downtown Bloomington to salute our own Monroe County Public Library.

You need to be 8 and older to parade with us! Anyone younger must be in a stroller or a wagon — no exceptions. You can walk or bike!  One adult is required to accompany each child. 

2012 Fourth of July ParadeWe will meet at the start of the parade route at Kirkwood and Indiana streets at 9:30 a.m.—parade starts at 10:00.  You are welcome to wear your favorite patriotic outfit, or sport the Red, White, and Blue, or your Friends of the Library tee shirt.

ALL PARTICIPANTS IN THE PARADE ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE WAIVER FORM — ONE SIGNATURE PER PERSON — NO ONE CAN BE IN THE PARADE UNLESS THE FORM IS SUBMITTED as per the City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department, sponsors of the parade.

Please return the waiver form to the Friends office. There is a form that you can sign2012 Fourth of July Parade on the door of the Friends of the Library office (MCPL 3rd floor) as well. Someone will check you in at the start of the parade — no one can sign up on site.

So celebrate all that a library means to us in the 21st Century—information, books, audio visual media, programs and a great community meeting place. Let's celebrate reading and the community of readers we have in Monroe County!
