The Monroe County Public Library Foundation, affectionately known as the Friends of the Library, is a non-profit corporation established in order to receive and administer grants, gifts, bequests and funds available outside the local tax receipts. The Foundation encourages active community participation in the development of the public library facilities, making available to the Board of Trustees funds and other gifts placed in its custody for the benefit of all citizens.
The Friends of the Library also sponsor a year-round once a week booksale every Tuesday. The sale is held in the atrium of the Bloomington library, and goes from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM.
