Covers death and funeral notices and obituaries appearing in most of the Bloomington newspapers; includes those present and past residents of Monroe and surrounding counties: Lawrence, Greene, Owen, Morgan, Brown. When coverage from Bloomington papers wasn’t sufficient, other papers were consulted.

Covers Bloomington newspapers from 1869 - current month.

Also included are some obituaries published in The Christian Record which was published during the years 1843 to 1884 with several interruptions.

There may be more than one entry per name if additions or corrections were published.

The date included in the index is the date of the obituary appeared in the newspaper and not the date of death.
