District 10 Pro-Bono Project, Inc. matches low-income clients with volunteer attorneys in the community who will take the case for free. For civil cases only. This organization serves Lawrence, Greene, Owen and Monroe Counties.

The CCL Advice Project, created in conjunction with Indiana Legal Services, Bloomington; the District 10 Pro Bono Project; and the IU School of Law, will connect private attorneys or legal service organizations with Spanish speakers seeking legal help. Fees are based on individual legal needs and financial means. Spanish speaking volunteers will take applications for civil legal matters at designated time, and the referral program will ensure, to the extent possible, that the Latino applicant Is matched with an attorney and an interpreter if necessary.

Indiana Legal Services (ILS) is a nonprofit law firm that provides free civil legal assistance to eligible low-income people throughout the state of Indiana. ILS helps clients who are faced with legal problems that harm their ability to have such basics as food, shelter, income, medical care or personal safety. Most of the cases ILS handles are cases such as family law where there is domestic violence, housing, consumer law, access to health care, and access to government benefits. ILS does not handle any criminal matters.

Indiana University Disability Law Clinic provides free legal assistance on disability law issues to low-income residents of Monroe County, Indiana. Most individual cases involve claims for federal or state disability benefits at the administrative hearings and appeals. Students also participate in community projects that advocate disability rights.

The Protective Order Project is a student-directed service at the IU Maurer School of Law designed to help victims of domestic abuse obtain civil protective orders from the court, with the goal of preventing further abuse, both by restraining the abuser and by empowering the victim.

At Indiana University Student Legal Services students represent clients on family law matters including divorce, establishment of paternity, guardianship, adoption, parenting, and custody. The clinic usually only accepts new cases in August and in January.

The Monroe County Legal Department is also referred to as the Monroe County Attorneys' Office. The Legal Department is responsible for drafting and enforcing county ordinances and codes and for providing legal advice and representation to Monroe County government officials and employees on government matters.
