My Sister's Closet

Description: 

My Sister's Closet is a 501 (c) 3 non profit organization established to provide free work force attire and Success Institute training to low-income and at-risk women pursuing employment.

Our Bargain Boutique is filled with new and gently used quality clothing available for purchase to the public. Inside you will find a wonderful variety of suits, pants, skirts, blouses, sweaters, and accessories to help you fit into your new career, prepare you for that important interview, and maintain fashionable wardrobe within a budget.

We accomplish our mission in two ways: A Thrift Store

1. The Clothing Voucher Program and with the generous donations of professional and trendy attire to our Bargain Boutique store.

2. Conducting job placement and life skills workshops run through our Success Institute.

Chapter 0580 meets at the American Legion, 1800 W. Third on the second Wednesday of the month (except in August) at 1:30 PM.

New Hope Family Shelter

Description: 

New Hope Family Shelter’s mission is to provide temporary shelter for homeless families in Bloomington and Monroe County and, in collaboration with other agencies, to help those families regain housing by addressing the problems that led to homelessness. The shelter provides accommodation for up to six families at a time for up to 90 days each while our case manager and director works with those families in daily contact and weekly conferences.

New Music Ensemble

Description: 

The Indiana University New Music Ensemble dedicates its efforts to performing a broad spectrum of contemporary music, focusing on works from the past thirty years, but also presenting significant works from earlier in the 20th century. Along with solo, chamber, and large ensemble works by composers from around the world, a typical concert includes music by a guest composer and a work by a member of the Indiana University Composition Department, the latter of which is recorded soon after the concert.

New School T'ai Chi Ch'uan

Description: 

We welcome anyone interested in studying Grandmaster William C.C. Chen's Short & Sword forms, applications, and Push hands. T'ai Chi Ch'uan is a Chinese martial art that emphasizes balance and body coordination rather than muscle strength. It requires relaxation of the mind and body and is therefore not only practiced for developing physically, but also mentally. The set of T'ai Chi movements can be practiced slowly as a form of meditation or can be adapted for self defense training. Anyone can practice regardless of age, gender or athletic ability.

We practice Grandmaster William C.C. Chen's Yang style forms.
