At first it was just a school assignment, but now I'm reading it again over the summer to understand it better. And I must say, it is really hard to get me to like a book let alone read, so that's definitely saying something. I absolutely despise reading, but this book is one of the very few exceptions.
This book is about a society with no color, music, or feelings. To do this they must take their daily medicine. Every year a group of children celebrates their "birthdays". These are called the ones, twos, or whatever age your turning. But when Jonas is not called up, he finds out he has been picked for the receiver. The Giver must give him the memories to bare for the town.
It was so intriguing with detail on every new memory Jonas receives.
