Isabel, fondly called "Belly", has spent every summer at Cousins Beach with her mom's best friend, Susannah, and her two boys, Conrad and Jeremiah. For as long as she can remember she has been chasing Conrad and trying to make him notice her. Finally, Belly decides that this summer will be different. But when a new boy, Cam, hits the beach and Jeremiah seems to want to hang out more, Belly finds that focusing her attention on Conrad may be harder than she thought. As Belly spends what she calls her "last summer" at Cousins beach, she realizes that she must make it last. For more than just one reason.
Jenny Han has written two sequels to this book. The second book is "It's Not Summer Without You" and the third and final book is "We'll Always Have Summer".
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to several of my friends. But as a friend I would also have to point out that these books have several cuss words and have a few scenes where Belly is at a party where beer is being served and some kids are drunk. Despite these few things it is an engrossing book and I enjoyed every page of it.
