Trinity Episcopal Church

Description:

Trinity is a community in which everyone is encouraged to explore her/his/their relationship with God. We value exploring our faith through worship and service. Using Jesus as our model, we are dedicated to radical hospitality, responding to the needs of our neighbors, and respecting the dignity of every human being. Our worship services embrace the mystery, beauty, and creativity of a God who has something to say to each of us.

As a part of the world-wide Anglican Communion, we value the traditions of our past. We also realize that we must respond to how God is calling us to be and act in the world today. Whoever you are, wherever you are on your spiritual path, you are welcome at Trinity Episcopal Church.

Turning Point Apostolic Church

Description:

Turning Point is a Bible based church. What that means is we seek to believe and practice what is taught in the Bible. We believe and teach that there is only one God. That God has revealed Himself to us as our Father, in His Son Jesus Christ, and through the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that is, the One God manifested in and through an authentic human life. The fullness of the godhead dwells in Jesus bodily. To see Jesus is to see God. We teach that the gospel is the good news that Jesus lived a perfect life, died for our sins, was buried, and rose again three days later. We express our belief in the gospel through our obedience to the gospel. We obey the gospel and apply it to our lives by repenting of our sins (death to sin), being baptized in water in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of our sins (burial), and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit (resurrection) with the initial evidence of speaking in other tongues.

United Way of South Central Indiana improves people’s lives by working to address our community’s most pressing needs. They bring together expertise, funding, and volunteer support to positively impact the resilience of our community, and those who live within it. In partnership with others, they work to eliminate inequities experienced by low-income and diverse populations so that all people have a safe, healthy home environment, achieve their educational potential, and increase their financial stability. They commit to building bridges across cultural, racial, religious, and economic boundaries. They create and sustain solutions to the most pressing issues in Brown, Greene, Lawrence, Monroe, Orange and Owen counties.

In September 2023, United Way of Monroe County and United Way of South Central Indiana announced that these two organizations have united as one, joining forces to combine their unique abilities, partnerships, and histories to bring new opportunities to the region. Merging creates operational efficiencies, ensuring greater impact while maintaining a strong local presence within each distinct community that makes up the south-central region.

Unity of Bloomington, a Center for Spiritual Growth

Description:

Unity is a positive, practical, progressive spiritual community. We enjoy exploring teachings from Christianity, Buddhism, Taoism and more. Unity honors the universal truths in all religions and respects each individual's right to choose a spiritual path.

We believe and practice the following:
- God is absolute good, everywhere present.
- Human beings have a spark of divinity within them. Their very essence is of God, and therefore they are inherently good.
- Human beings create their experiences by the activity of their thinking.
- Prayer and Meditation are forms of creative thinking that heighten our connection with God.
- Knowing and understanding these principles are not enough. A person must also live the truth that he or she knows.
