- Apply LOCALLY: National Merit Scholarships -- an independent not-for-profit organization that operates without government assistance, conducts two privately financed annual competitions; the National Merit Scholarship Program and the National Achievement Scholarship Program. Take the PSAT your JUNIOR year to qualify. Talk to your high school counselor about registering for the test.

FAFSA and PROFILE Application FORMS
- FAFSA Online Application -- This is the form that everybody has to fill out in order to get financial aid from the government: federal or state.
  Paper and pdf versions of the FAFSA are available although on-line application is recommended.
- FAFSA on the Web Pre-Application Worksheet -- This is the form to use if you want to fill in your answers before submitting the FAFSA online. The questions on this worksheet appear in the same order as they do on the online application.
- Profile Online Application -- This additional financial aid application is required by many private schools and some public schools. Check the school's application form or ask!

College Night at your local high school. One of your best bets! Contact the high school counselling office for dates and details. (Attend a session before the senior year to get a clue and plan ahead.)
