Coronavirus Updates

Physical Libraries Closed

All physical Library locations are closed until further notice, including the Main Library, Ellettsville Branch, Bookmobile, Van, and Homebound Services. The Library will determine a building reopening date based on the advice and directive of state and local officials in conjunction with the health and safety of staff and the public.

All materials return slots are closed. Please keep your materials until the Library reopens. All materials due dates have been extended to May 1 and the Library does not charge overdue fines. Please disregard any late notices received.

All Library programs and public meeting room reservations are canceled through May 31.

All items currently on hold will continue to be held for you when the Library reopens. At this time, you cannot place additional holds.

eLibrary Services Available With Your Library Card

Did you know you can access the Library 24/7 from the comfort of your own digital device anywhere, anytime with your regular library card? The eLibrary includes eBooks, music, audiobooks, movies & TV, magazines & newspapers, learning opportunities, DIY, curated research materials, local & family history, and much more. Here are just a few of the things you can do online with your library card. You can also explore the eLibrary menu of the website.

Most services use your library card barcode or account username and PIN/password to log in. If you've forgotten your PIN/password (these are the same thing), please try the last four digits of your phone number. If that doesn't work, you can reset your password online, using the "Forgot your password?" link during account login. A link to reset the password will then be sent to the email address associated with the card.

Lose your library card or you never had one? The Library can help you access eLibrary services with a temporary card during the closure. Please contact the Library to get started.

Community Resources and WiFi Access

The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce and many collaborators in the community have gathered a list of resources to help Monroe County individuals and businesses navigate the effects of COVID-19. This includes guidance for businesses, legal resources, economic information, health department recommendations, and more. Search the database here.

Indiana University is offering free, 24-hour, high-speed WiFi access in the orange parking lot between Memorial Stadium and Assembly Hall. Smithville is also offering WiFi hotspots at Marci Jane Lewis Park (106 S. Park Street, Ellettsville, in the parking lot between the shelter house and basketball courts), and at Monroe County Fairgrounds (5700 W. Airport Road, Bloomington, near the 4-H Building). Library parking lots are available as well.
