  1. Choose a book from the 2019–2020 Young Hoosier Book Award’s intermediate list.

  2. Read it!

  3. Show your creativity by making a video book trailer between 30 seconds and 2 minutes long. Need help making your book trailer? Check out these tips to get started. It's easy!

If 2D art is more your thing, create a book poster to advertise the book. We'll hang it in the Main Library! Need help getting started? Take a look at these tips to get started!

  4. Submit your book trailer via email to younghoosiers [at] mcpl.info

by 9 PM on April 2. Submit your 2D posters in person to the children's information desk at the Main Library or any information desk at the Ellettsville Branch Library.

  5. Come to the after-hours viewing party on Friday, April 3 from 6:30–8:30 PM to watch the trailers, check out the artwork, eat snacks, and play games! It's in the Main Library's Auditorium and Atrium (enter at the Kirkwood Avenue entrance). Families are welcome. Please register.
You can also come to one of the Library's three Young Hoosier Book Club events! Read your title, then join in the discussion, snacks, and crafts! Talk about some of the award-winning books, then learn how you can vote for next year's awards!

Please note, this contest is open to Monroe County fourth and fifth-graders only. All book trailers must be family-friendly.
