Bloomington Blades Youth Hockey Association

Description: 

The Bloomington Blades Youth Hockey Association is dedicated to providing an opportunity for children between the ages of 6 and 12 to play ice hockey in a competitive, organized manner under the instruction and supervision of qualified coaches. The program welcomes all children with an interest in playing hockey. In addition to providing a structured format to enjoy the game, BBYHA also strives to help children develop their athletic skills, sense of citizenship, sportsmanship, and fair play.

The Bloomington Catholic Worker is a community in the tradition of the Catholic Worker movement. The Catholic Worker movement lives the vision of Dorothy Day and Peter Maurin, who believed that a peaceable revolution would result if people imitated Jesus Christ's nonviolence, voluntary poverty, and radical hospitality. The BCW/CR is an ecumenical Christian intentional community that tries to live, pray and work both with each other and with the poor we encounter.

Bloomington Community Band

Description: 

Rehearsals on Monday evenings, 7:00 PM, St. Thomas Lutheran Church, 3rd Street and Smith Road. An adult volunteer concert band. Woodwind, brass, and percussion players are welcome. No auditions necessary.

Bloomington Cooperative Living

Description: 

Bloomington Cooperative Living Inc. was founded in the Fall of 2007 in Bloomington, Indiana using a nonprofit housing cooperative model. The organization is incorporated for the fostering of an economically, ecologically, and socially sustainable society through the practice of cooperative living. Bloomington Cooperative Living welcomes all community members to join the organization for weekly potlucks. BCL was founded by students from Indiana University and experienced coopers from places such as Ann Arbor, MI, Madison, WI , Athens, OH , and Berkley, CA. Bloomington Fourth Street Festival Committee

Description: 

The 4th Street Festival was created in 1977 by Bloomington, Indiana area artists and craftspeople to showcase southern Indiana talent. The fair has grown to include artists from all over the country. The Fourth Street Festival of the Arts and Fine Crafts strives to create an atmosphere of appreciation for art as well as an opportunity for artists to showcase their work by presenting a high quality event, while providing an educational environment to create connections with art and artists. Fourth Street prides itself on being admission free and welcoming to all.

Bloomington Garden Club

Description: 

On September 27, 1938, six women formed The Bloomington Garden Club. These six charter members had the following mission: to promote the knowledge and love of gardening; to aid in the protection of native trees, plants, and birds; and to encourage civic planting and beautification.

Closed membership.

Members and participants must to be nominated to join.

Sponsors the Garden Walk annually and other civic garden projects. Minutes are stored at the Lilly Library.

Bloomington Housing Authority

Description: 

The BHA was established in 1961 and the first development of affordable housing units was completed in 1968. Currently, the BHA employs a staff of 30 employees and provides housing assistance to over 2,500 Monroe County households each year. The BHA operates three affordable housing communities and provides more than 1,300 Housing Choice Vouchers, also known as Section 8, that allow income eligible families to rent in the private market.
