The Bloomington affiliate of Women Writing for (a) Change is an emerging school which supports the lives of women for whom writing is, or is becoming, an important creative and spiritual practice. The Writers Guild at Bloomington is an association of writers committed to mutual support and the professional development of their craft. Its mission is to foster interaction among writers as well as other artists, educators, and the Monroe County public, thereby enhancing the vibrancy of the arts and the writing community in the greater Bloomington area.
The Writers Guild holds monthly meetings, maintains a website, engages in projects, and produces and supports events such as reading series, workshops, and conferences.
Wylie House Museum is the historic 1835 home of the first president of IU, Andrew Wylie. The museum interprets the lives of Wylie family members and others within the context of Indiana University and U.S. history. The museum offers guided tours, public programming, and supports IU's academic mission through course instruction, tours, and student experiential learning opportunities.
Young Professionals Bloomington is a program of The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce that is designed to provide opportunities for young professionals to develop a personal network, to grow professionally, and to succeed in business while enhancing the community's quality of life.
The mission of the Youth Services Bureau of Monroe County is to provide services, programs, referrals, and advocacy for youth and community education on issues concerning youth. Since 1972, the Youth Services Bureau has provided services to the citizens of Monroe County, Indiana in an effort to strengthen families, divert youth from the juvenile justice system, and foster positive youth development. YSB offers services which promote positive family functioning and help lay the groundwork to build healthy, productive individuals.
