Area 10 Agency on Aging is a private, not-for-profit corporation serving older adults in Monroe and Owen Counties. We are the tenth of sixteen Area Agencies on Aging in Indiana. Our mission is to improve the quality of life and celebrate the independence, health, and dignity of all older adults. Argus, formed in 2000, was created to train and deploy ground search teams and specialty canine units. The team provides our local area of Monroe County, Indiana and surrounding areas with well-trained and experienced operational units. Members of Argus have experience in ground search, first aid, navigation, communications, crime scene preservation, emergency medicine, geographic information systems (GIS) and search management.
Argus is a not-for-profit group based in Bloomington, Indiana. Our team consists of volunteers from the local community. The mission of Be Loved Transportation Inc. is to provide reliable and courteous non-emergency medical transportation to anyone who needs it. The vision is to ensure anyone needing medical transportation will have it. This will be carried out in an environment that not only transports but provides genuine relationship building. Our purpose is to provide transportation in order to bridge the gap between patients and healthcare. We provide transportation for individuals to and from appointments such as dialysis, chemotherapy, doctors appointments etc. regardless of financial restraints, family availability, or other barriers. We also link individuals and families with resources in the community to provide supportive services for those who come into contact with Be Loved Transportation.
The Shalom Community Center is dedicated to relieving the plight of those experiencing homelessness and poverty in South Central Indiana. Since access to food, housing, education, and health and human services are fundamental human rights; we seek to meet these basic needs. As a non profit resource center, we deliver social services directly and in collaboration with other agencies in a respectful and secure environment. We advocate for the most vulnerable among us and promote activities that empower people to develop their assets to the fullest extent possible.
Beat Tobacco is a smoking cessation program led and sponsored by IU Health Bloomington Hospital, designed to educate and support you in your decision to be tobacco free. The classes are taught by Monroe County Tobacco Coalition educators from IU Health Bloomington Hospital, Monroe County Health Department and Volunteers in Medicine who have received training on how to help people quit tobacco. They understand the struggles and side effects of tobacco cessation and have an extended knowledge base to give you options on how to successfully quit. These classes are free and no reservation is required.
