The Library is committed to serving people with disabilities in full compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The Library will provide appropriate aids and services leading to effective, accessible communication for people with varying types of disabilities.

The Library will also make any reasonable modifications to policies and procedures to ensure that people with disabilities have an equal opportunity to enjoy Library programs, services, and activities. None of these accommodations will result in a fee or other surcharge to the user.

Because the Library cannot anticipate all accommodations that may be needed, individuals who require special services or policy modifications are requested to contact the Special Audiences Strategist, who functions as the ADA coordinator, as far in advance as possible. The Special Audiences Strategist may be reached by telephone at 812-349–3050 or email at ada [at] mcpl.info.

The ADA does not require the Library to take any action that would fundamentally alter the nature of its programs or services, or impose an undue financial or administrative burden. Anyone who is concerned the Library is not fulfilling its obligation to serve the needs of people with disabilities is encouraged to contact the ADA Coordinator, above, or follow the Grievance Procedure under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Employment

The Library does not discriminate on the basis of disability in its hiring or employment practices and complies with all regulations enacted by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission under title I of the ADA.
