Our Library strives to strengthen our community and enrich lives by providing equitable and impartial access to information and opportunities to read, learn, connect, and create. Our vision is of a knowledgeable, inclusive, diverse, and engaged community empowered by the Library.

Our locations include the Downtown Library in Bloomington, a branch in Ellettsville, and a newly opened branch on Bloomington's south side, alongside extensive outreach services.

Internships 

We place great value in providing professional work experiences through internships. The Library's internships requirements are as follows:

  • Unpaid
  • Applicants must currently be enrolled in classes with an academic institution and be in good standing
  • Applicants must be tied to an academic institution with an internship requirement and/or the internship is related to career goals/course of study
  • Paid employees of MCPL may not hold internships with MCPL while employed at the Library
  • Interviews are conducted for internship candidates
  • Background checks are conducted for accepted interns age 18 and older
  • Deadlines for filling out the MCPL Internship Inquiry form* are as follows:
    • Fall semester internships: June 15
    • Spring semester internships: October 15
    • Summer semester internships: February 15
