Making an Appointment

In-building and drive-up window services are currently discontinued.

    To reserve items, please place a hold through our online catalog. Please wait until you receive a notification that your hold is ready, then schedule a pickup appointment time at your preferred location. All available holds will be ready for pickup at your scheduled appointment time. You do not need to make a separate appointment for each item.

    • Monday–Thursday: 11 AM–7 PM
    • Friday–Saturday: 11 AM–6 PM
    • Sunday: Noon–5 PM


    Pickup Instructions

    Your pickup will take place in the parking lot vestibule entryway. The Library itself remains closed.

    After making an appointment, please report to your selected location's parking lot entrance during your designated 30-minute time slot. If someone is in the vestibule when you arrive, please wait until they leave before entering. Items are arranged on the shelves alphabetically by your last name. Please do not touch other materials. Bags are available for those who need one. 

    If you have questions or concerns, please call 812-349-3050. For the safety of all, staff will not interact with patrons onsite.

    We are committed to a safe, realistic, and community-oriented approach to serving you. For the safety of all, if you are feeling ill, please do not visit. Patrons and staff are required to wear a face-covering while on the premises. Children age 2 and younger are exempt. Ventilator masks are not allowed. Disposable masks are available at all locations for patrons who do not have one, and free reusable masks from the Bloomington Mask Drive are available at the Main Library. Please observe physical distancing guidelines, keeping a minimum of six feet between yourself and others. View all COVID-19 safeguards.


    Missed Appointments

    If you miss your appointment, your materials will remain available in the vestibule entryway for up to 24 hours. After this, materials will be released to the next patron on the hold list or returned to the shelves.
