The Human Library™: Book Application

Don't Judge a Book By Its Cover!

Do you want to challenge stereotypes and prejudices through dialogue? Do you have experiences based around race, religion, sexual orientation, disability, occupation, cultural background, age, gender orientation, ethnicity, social status, and/or lifestyle choices? Apply to volunteer to be a “Human Book” at The Human Library™ event at the Main Library on Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 2–5 PM.

The Human Library™ is an event that aims to create dialogue and understanding between people. Individuals volunteer as human books and participants become readers during a 20-minute one-on-one conversation. Designed to build a positive framework for conversations that can challenge stereotypes and prejudices through dialogue, it is an event in which difficult questions are expected, appreciated, and answered. Conversations take place in a safe and neutral space. The Human Library™ provides an opportunity for the community to share and understand the experiences of others in their community.

In order for us to consider your offer to volunteer, please answer a few questions.
