Two-Sentence Horror Story Contest

It was a dark and stormy night...when MCPL decided to host a Two-Sentence Horror Story Contest. Horror story submissions may be about any terrifying topic or gruesome subject, but must be an original work and two sentences (400 characters or less) in length. Submissions will be accepted October 1–25.

Contest Rules:

  1. Entries must be submitted by the deadline.
  2. Submissions will be judged by a blind review panel composed of MCPL staff.
  3. Participants may submit multiple entries, but can only win one prize.
  4. Stories that do not follow the two-sentence rule will be disqualified.
  5. Submissions that violate privacy, promote illegal activity, or incite violence will be disqualified.

 

Prizes

  • First place: $50 gift card to a bookstore of your choice 
  • Second place: $30 gift card to a bookstore of your choice
  • Third place: $20 gift card to a bookstore of your choice

Each of the top three winners will also receive a horror book from the Friends of the Library bookstore. The top 20 stories will be featured on the Library's website.
