Kaya's Escape by Janet Shaw is a story of adventure and survival. Kaya is a Nez Perce girl from the Nimiipuu tribe. One terrible night Kaya and her sister Speaking Rain are captured by enemy raiders and are taken far away from their homeland. Janet Shaw really closes up on what it's like to be in Kaya's place. In this moving story Kaya learns a lesson about thinking of others before herself and how to be strong.
