The Monroe County Public Library provides used mobility aids to the public at no charge.

- Crutches
- Walkers
- Rollators
Limited Donations Accepted
At this time, the Library is only able to accept donations of the following mobility aids, and only if they are clean and in excellent working condition:
- Rollators
- Canes
These can be dropped off at the Downtown Library’s second-floor information desk during regular hours. Please do not donate any other health or mobility aids, as we do not have the current capacity to accept them.
Other Community Resources
This service is in partnership with a local non-profit, the Mobility Aids Lending Library (MALL), as well as the Bloomington Council for Community Accessibility. The MALL organization has additional mobility aids available, often including power wheelchairs, mobility scooters, and shower chairs, and they accept donations of such devices as well. Please contact them for more details through the MALL website.
Checkout
All Library mobility devices are available for free to check out at the Downtown Library's second-floor information desk during regular hours and at the Ellettsville Branch, Southwest Branch, Bookmobile, and House Calls service upon request.
To check out a mobility aid from the Library, you will need:
- Your library card
- A signed liability waiver, which means that borrowers will need to be age 18 or older
However, unlike other library loans, these devices do not have a due date; you can keep them as long as you need them, and you will not be charged if you have them indefinitely.
