Previous and Current Story Walk Titles

In partnership with the Friends of the Library, the Library brings you the Story Walk, a page-by-page reading and walking journey at local parks. Each stop on the Story Walk offers a fun reading activity designed to build literacy skills while having fun as a family.

Currently there are two Story Walk locations: Flatwoods Park, 9499 Flatwoods Road, Gosport (in partnership with Monroe County Parks & Recreation), and the original location, Rev. Ernest D. Butler Park, 812 W. Ninth Street, Bloomington (in partnership with Bloomington Parks & Recreation).

These are the books that have graced these parks. Next time there's a sunny day, check it out for yourself. Enjoy a good walk made even better!

Ej Mur

Don't Wake Up the Tiger

Britta Teckentrup
Ej Tec

Tiger is fast asleep, but oh dear! She's lying completely in the way. Just how will the animals get past without waking her up? Luckily, Frog has an excellent idea and, holding his balloon, he floats right over sleeping Tiger! Fox is next, followed by Tortoise, Mouse and Stork, but it will be tricky for them all to get past without Tiger noticing! It's a good job that the reader is there to help keep Tiger asleep, isn't it? But where exactly are they going with all those big shiny balloons? Do you think it might be someone's birthday? Can you guess who?
