Rand al'Thor believes he is a simple farmer until the day that his world is turned upside down. He learns that the Dark One, an essence of evil, is hunting him and two of his friends, Perrin Aybara and Matrim Cauthon for being ta'veren, a thing out of legends, who are people who can shape lives. On the run, the friends get separated and lose each other. They learn about different things, that had been common misconceptions before. Later, all but one are reunited, but they dive back into danger soon after. Near the end, one learns that he can channel and calling his own doom of madness.

Definitely, It starts of a little slow, but you have to read the whole wheel of time series to understand everything.
