2010 Fast Facts
More options, faster service, inviting spaces
Although it was sometimes noisy and dusty, and finding materials in temporary locations was a nine-month adventure, both patrons and staff took the renovations at the Main Library in stride. The library never closed, and, at year's end, MCPL achieved its highest circulation ever. With the move of the Drive-up Window and Circulation, patrons can pick up holds all hours that the Main Library is open. New checkout areas speed patrons on their way. Larger VITAL tutoring rooms enhance small group learning. The colorful, redecorated Children's Department invites imaginative play and discovery, while the refurbished second floor opens up expanded reading and study spaces to natural light and Kirkwood views.
