A New Vision for a 21st Century Community
50 years after the original Ellettsville Branch opened, we’re getting our biggest makeover yet. After talking and listening extensively to the people living and working in the Ellettsville area, the Library and our partners at Matheu Architects are excited to unveil the latest chapter in the Branch’s history. You’ll love the new opportunities to read, learn, connect, and create that the upcoming renovation brings—and recognize many of the features and faces you’re already familiar with here.
Something for Everyone
Community members of all ages have lots to look forward to at the newly-renovated Ellettsville Branch. Among the improvements you’ll enjoy:
- Upgraded service areas for children, including a new infant room
- An expanded program room to accommodate large meetings of up to 125 people
- A beautiful bay window with a new seating area for plenty of natural light and relaxation
- A dedicated teen space
- New ADA-compliant restrooms
- An improved, ADA-compliant parking lot
- Replacement of the heating and cooling system for more cost-efficient, year-round comfort
Construction Phase One In Progress
Construction on the new, expanded program room began on May 7. All existing services and programming will continue as normal during this construction phase.
Temporary Branch Closing: August–December 2018
Creating the Branch you deserve is a big job! Despite our best efforts to avoid any disruptions to service, our contractor advises that a safe, efficient, and cost-effective renovation means a temporary total branch closure is necessary. Therefore, the Ellettsville Branch will be completely inaccessible to the public during the major renovation phase of August–December 2018.
But don’t worry: you’ll still enjoy the Library, even in the Ellettsville community. Download our FAQ about the Branch closing and our temporary nearby service locations.
This page will be updated as we receive new information.
