Visit during library open hours and enjoy opportunities to read, talk, sing, write and play!
What:This is a room designed for young children and their caregivers to explore together with fun learning activities that promote early literacy skills. There are five permanent learning centers: the kitchen, the store, the writing center and the reading center, and the baby area. The baby area is intended for children who are not yet walking. The learning center at the center of the room is set up to reflect a rotating theme such as the farm, colors, or other basic concepts.
Where: The Learn and Play Space is a separate room located in the Children's Services Department near the reference desk.
Who: Children 0-6 with their adult caregivers. Adults are expected to stay with their children; to guide them in play and take responsibility for their behavior. The room is generally open to all the public; however, it may be used by Children's Services for special programs. It may not be reserved by groups for private use.
When: The Learn and Play Space (LAPS) is open one half hour after the library opens until one half hour before closing. (Check web site for listing of library open hours and closings.)
