Story Walk

Thanks to the generosity of the Friends of the Library, kids and their families can enjoy a great book together—while enjoying the outdoors in our community.

In partnership with Bloomington Parks and Recreation, the Library brings you Story Walk, a page-by-page reading and walking journey at the City's Butler Park. Each stop on the Story Walk offers a fun reading activity designed to build literacy skills while having fun as a family—and reminds you that the Library is here for your family’s enrichment every day.

The latest Story Walk features Don't Wake Up the Tiger, a popular children’s book by Britta Teckentrup. Selected for its pacing and action, the book is a great teaching tool for the whole family, especially with the additional parent-child interaction of the literacy-building activities provided.  In October 2018, the Story Walk’s title will be updated to Oh No, George! by Chris Haughton.

As a community known for our commitment to our Libraries and parks, a Story Walk is a natural fit for Monroe County. Walk a good story with a young reader today.

The Story Walk is funded by Friends of the Library's Carol R. Nicholas Endowment for Strategic Initiatives.
