We meet twice a month. Our local singings are held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month from 7-9 PM in the lower level of the Fairview Methodist Church. (600 W 6th St.) Park in the lot on the north side of the building and enter through the lower level doors on the southeast side of the building.

Newbies are encouraged! Don’t worry, loaner books are provided!

BOTMDG is dedicated to fostering the growth and development of Old Time musicians, callers, and dancers in a nurturing and friendly atmosphere. It is a non-profit organization that is run entirely through the efforts of volunteers — your help is always needed and welcome! BOTMDG is one of the oldest groups of its kind in the country. Every Wednesday evening (no exceptions!) they convene for live Old Time fiddle, New England, and Irish dance tunes. Callers lead contra, square, and occasionally English set dancing. This type of dance has a devout and enthusiastic following around the world.

Morris dancing is a traditional village festival dance from England. The dances Bloomington Quarry Morris performs are from the Cotswold area of England, as well as some Midwest American dances. Bloomington Quarry has performed at dawn on Mayday at the Courthouse over 25 years, the Shipshewana May festival and ethnic and renaissance festivals in Terre Haute, Indianapolis and South Bend.

Will perform for groups. Looking for new dancers and musicians. Requires once a week commitment October through Memorial Day.

The Bloomington Storytellers' Guild was formed in 1974 to help keep the ancient tradition of oral storytelling alive. In addition to being a means for sharing classic folk and fairytales of our times (and times past), storytelling encourages use of the imagination, listening skills, and an interest in reading. Members of the Guild meet about once a month to share new stories and plan storytelling events. Membership is open to anyone with a love for stories, a desire to tell them -- and ten bucks for the registration fee.

Constellation Stage & Screen produces world-class theater and film that impacts the national performing arts industry through new work development. Established in 2022 as a result of a three way merger between the Bloomington Playwright’s Project, Cardinal Stage, and Pigasus Institute, Constellation produces a professional theatrical season featuring an exciting mix of original plays and musicals, established works, family and holiday classics, and theater for young audiences shows. Throughout the year, Constellation seeks to develop and produce multiple film projects and over time will create a new work development pipeline where projects can progress from page, to stage, to screen!

Constellation aims to have a deep and lasting impact on our community and region through its IU Credit Union Education and Outreach Initiative. Constellation's educational offerings seek to nurture a love of the performing arts in students of all ages in South Central Indiana by offering classes and experiential learning for everyone, from the youngest beginner to the adult professional.

The Friday Musicale meets 6 times a year on the 2nd Friday of the month at 1:15 p.m. October-April (except January). They are affiliated with the National Federation of Music Clubs and Indiana Arts Festival. They sponsor a Junior Festival for pre-college students on the 2nd Saturday in May at the Jacobs School.

 

Organized in 1905, Friday Musicale is federated with the National and Indiana Federation of Music Clubs.

The National Federation of Music Clubs, founded in 1898, is now the world’s largest philanthropic music organization supporting American music and musicians. It is one fo three organizations to be chartered by the United States Congress and the only music organization member of the United Nations. There are six thousand NFMC-related organizations and music clubs nationally. Members are professional and amateur musicians, composers, dancers, performing artists, arts and music educators, students, generous benefactors, and music lovers who are interested in creating a dynamic musical and cultural environment in their communities.

The Indiana University New Music Ensemble dedicates its efforts to performing a broad spectrum of contemporary music, focusing on works from the past thirty years, but also presenting significant works from earlier in the 20th century. Along with solo, chamber, and large ensemble works by composers from around the world, a typical concert includes music by a guest composer and a work by a member of the Indiana University Composition Department, the latter of which is recorded soon after the concert.

"Sounds of Indiana" is an a-cappella male Barbershop Chorus that sings and performs popular songs in the unique style called Barbershop, focusing on consonant four-part harmony.
