Bloomington Storyteller's Guild

Description:

The Bloomington Storytellers' Guild was formed in 1974 to help keep the ancient tradition of oral storytelling alive. In addition to being a means for sharing classic folk and fairytales of our times (and times past), storytelling encourages use of the imagination, listening skills, and an interest in reading. Members of the Guild meet about once a month to share new stories and plan storytelling events. Membership is open to anyone with a love for stories, a desire to tell them -- and ten bucks for the registration fee.

Description:

Welcome to Bloomington’s hub for theater, film, and arts education! Constellation connects audiences through world-class theater and film.

Each theatrical season features an exciting mix of original plays and musicals, established works, family-friendly classics, and shows for young audiences. Through its year-round education programs, Constellation aims to nurture a love of the performing arts in students of all ages in South Central Indiana. Throughout the year, Constellation’s Film Department produces a variety of film projects (all shot in Indiana), hosts a screening series of classics, indie films, and cinematic experiences, and offers a variety of hands-on filmmaking classes and workshops. Constellation was established in 2022 as a result of a three-way merger between Bloomington Playwright’s Project, Cardinal Stage, and Pigasus Institute. Learn more at SeeConstellation.org.

Reimagining Opera For Kids (ROK) - formerly Roundabout Opera For Kids

Description:

Led by Jacobs School of Music faculty coach Kimberly Carballo, and as a community partner in service learning for Indiana University students, ROK’s goal is two-fold: to introduce area children to opera through engaging first experiences as audience members, and to give developing professional musicians an opportunity to hone their performance skills. The musicians donate their preparation and performance time, and ROK provides free performances and curriculum guides to K-12 students.
