The 2021 Summer Reading Games have ended. Please look for 2022 information in early spring!

Read for fun, complete activities, and earn tickets towards prize drawings! Our summer reading games are a fun and free way to engage children ages birth–12 in exploring new ideas, books, and activities.

    Between June 1 and August 1, 2021, you can register on Beanstack and play online. As you read and try different activities, you'll become eligible to earn badges and prizes. Games are available for teens and adults too. See the Beanstack FAQ for more details.

     

    Prizes

    Readers participating in the 2021 Children's Summer Reading Game earn a paperback book after achieving 30 points, and chances to win a raffle drawing prize:

    • $100 gift certificate to The Book Corner (10 winners) 
    • Preschool play bundle featuring an animal encyclopedia, Melissa and Doug Pet Vet Set, a duckling puppet, and a $30 gift card to Hartzell's Ice Cream (4 winners) 
    • Family fun night bundle, including Ladybug and Outfoxed board games, Picasso Tiles, and a $50 Pizza X gift card (4 winners) 
    • Comic book creator bundle, containing a sketchbook, pencil, pen, and marker sets, and a $20 gift card to Vintage Phoenix (4 winners) 
    • Science exploration bundle, featuring a robot, terrarium kit, telescope, astronomy book, and a LEGO Mars set (4 winners)

     

    Free Early Reader Gift Books

    Hey, caregivers! We have free early reader gift books for children who just finished kindergarten or first grade! Register your reader for our summer reading game (at home or in the Library), then visit the children's information desk at the Downtown Library, Ellettsville Branch, or Bookmobile to pick up your gift. Books are available beginning June 1, while supplies last.

     

    1,000,000-Minute Reading Goal

    There will be a community-wide reading goal of 1,000,000 minutes, resulting in a $1,000 donation from the Friends of the Library to Monroe County Humane Association.
