There is a lot of information available for people with autism and those supporting them. It can be difficult to know where to begin. Here are some helpful related resources we recommend as a good starting point.

Indiana Resource Center for Autism
The Indiana Resource Center for Autism focuses on providing communities, organizations, agencies, and families with the knowledge and skills to support children and adults, of all ages, in typical early intervention, school, community, work, and home settings. They are university-based and part of Indiana University’s Indiana Institute on Disability and Community.

Family Voices Indiana
Family Voices Indiana provides information, training, and one-on-one support to families of children and youth with special healthcare needs, and the professionals who serve them. They aim to provide families with tools to make informed decisions, advocate for improved systems and policies, and build partnerships between professionals and families.

The Arc of Indiana
The Arc of Indiana was established in 1956 by parents of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) who joined together to build a better and more accepting world for their children. The Arc of Indiana is committed to all people with intellectual and developmental disabilities realizing their goals of living, learning, working, and fully participating in the community.

Autistic Self Advocacy Network (ASAN)
ASAN is a nonprofit organization run by and for autistic people. It was created to serve as a national grassroots disability rights organization for the autistic community, advocating for systems change and ensuring that the voices of people with autism are heard in policy debates and the halls of power. Its staff work to advance civil rights, support self-advocacy in all its forms, and improve public perceptions of autism. ASAN’s members and supporters include autistic adults and youth, cross-disability advocates, and non-autistic family members, professionals, educators, and friends. Teaching Students with Autism: A Guide for Educators
This guide published by the National Education Association offers information on how to create an inviting and supportive learning environment for students with autism, how to support individual needs, includes examples of adapted material to meet individual needs, and provides a list for further resources.

Monroe County Autism Foundation
The Monroe County Autism Foundation works to financially assist individuals and families in Monroe County connected to the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ASD-related issues.

Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
The CDC’s ASD web resources cover a wide range of information including information on symptoms of autism, how autism is diagnosed, what is currently known about autism, data on the prevalence of autism, resources on living with autism, resources for parents, and much more.

Autism Society of Indiana (ASI)
ASI exists to ensure that every individual and every family affected by autism in the State of Indiana receives the high-quality services they deserve.

Indiana Autism Alliance
The Indiana Autism Alliance is a coalition of autism advocates. The ultimate goal of the organization  is to supply and link parents and caregivers with the best autism information possible.
